Covenant House was founded in 1972 with the simple, profound mission to shelter and care for kids facing homelessness.
Today, we are so much more than a homeless shelter. Our combination of support strategies, including educational programs, job training and placement, medical services, mental health and substance use counseling, legal aid and holistic wellness, help young people achieve independence and realize the great promise of their lives.
Our work doesn’t stop at direct care. We’re also a leading advocate for kids facing homelessness, defending the rights of young people at a local, state, national, and international level and working to affect the issues that drive youth homelessness.
Sleep Out America is an opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the young people who find safety and stability at Covenant House. Our work is primarily funded through private donations like those raised at Sleep Out, so your impact is immediate – helping us keep the lights on and doors open at our sites in more than 30 cities across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
Last year, Covenant House street outreach, residential programs, and community services reached nearly 80,000 young people, and the need is greater than ever.
